Why does Tudor have Rolex parts ?The story of Tudor is an interesting one. Founded in 1926 by marketing genius Hans Wildof who was also the founder of big brother company Rolex some 40 years earlier. Hans would use 90% the same parts as a Rolex and substitute a fewer of the movement parts for cheaper ones that hardly affected the quality and reliability of his models. Upon creating the TUDOR company Hans was quoted :"For some years now I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that could attain the standards of dependability for which Rolex is famous, I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. It is called the Tudor Watch Company."The idea of still producing highly reliable, quality and affordable timepieces certainly worked as the US Navy, French Navy and Israeli army (and many others) made sufficient orders from Tudor in the 1960s.
