1946 Preakness Stakes Program, Pimlico - Triple Crown Winner And HOF ASSAULT

Vintage horse racing program from the 1946 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course. This was won by the great Texas-bred Assault for King Ranch. The colt went on to win the Belmont Stakes to become the sport's seventh Triple Crown winner and later was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
This program is in very nice condition with some writing throughout noting the results and scratches, with most races being similar to the Preakness page as pictured. This is a World War II-era pro...gram, so even though it was run after the war was over it was still printed on thinner paper and using only one staple at the top instead of two like most other old programs would have. That makes Preakness programs from the 1940s harder to find in good condition. This one has a strong staple and no rips or tears with just some general wear on the edges and corners. If you look closely at the Preakness race you'll see some of the printing is very faint or missing for the ownership of #7 and #9, but that just appears to be how this was printed as there is some of that on a couple other races too and that's how things went with less modern printing techniques.
