Robert "Lefty" Grove (1900-1975) was and is one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history. A left-handed pitcher, he was inducted into the HOF in 1947. He pitched 17 seasons in the majors for the Phil. A's(1925-1933), and Red Sox (1934-1941), appearing in 616 games, with a record of 300-141, 35 shut-outs, 54 saves, a 3.06 ERA, and hit .148, with 15 HRs, and 121 RBIs. Grove was a 6-time All-Star, led the league 4-times in wins, 9-times in ERA, 7-times in strike-outs (1925-1931), had ...8 seasons of 20+ wins, including 7 seasons in a row (1927-1933), and was the 1931 A.L. MVP. In 1930, he was a league leading 28-5, 2.54 ERA, .848 WP, 9 saves, 209 strike-outs, and in 1931, won the A.L. MVP, with career high and league leading 31-4 record, .886 WP, 2.06 ERA, 27 complete games, 4 shut-outs, and 175 strike-outs. Grove pitched in 3 W.S. for the A's (1929-1931), with a 4-2 record, 2 saves, and a 1.75 ERA in 8 games.
