Here we have a Vintage STANLEY No. 923 Ratcheting Reversible Drill Auger Bit Brace, 10" Sweep. The brace is identified on the upper frame member. (see pics). This is an EXCELLENT fully working brace with smooth, solid ratcheting action. The metal surfaces are in Excellent condition with miniminal wear to the nickel-plating. The brace looks like is was not used a lot !! The chuck has a nice wide knurled section for ease in tightening the bi...t in place (still has the orange paint in the rings !). It has a, Excellent pair of extendable 'alligator' jaws with parallel faces and a cutout in them for the tang of a bit. This chuck was designed to hold round as well as tang bits up to 1/2". The ball-bearing lined, 2-7/8" diameter top pad is full nickel-plated clad . Has oil port to oil the bearings. This pad handle and the center handle are made of a tropical hardwood called 'cocobola'. There are a few scratches and nicks, but NO cracks. Both handles spin as they should. Brace is approx. 14" long. No cracks, breaks or repairs. No owner's marks.
