Thurman Munson played 11 seasons for the Yankees from 1969 to 1979. He was the AL Rookie of the Year in 1970, AL MVP in 1976, a 7x All-Star, 2x World Series Champion (1977, 1978), and was captain of the New York Yankees from 1976 to 1979. He tragically passed away in 1979 at age 32. His number 15 has been retired by the New York Yankees.
