DESCRIPTION:This is a beautiful antique Victorian silver gilt perfume scent bottle. It is in the rare colour of Uranium Green. The maker is the prestigious firm of Sampson Mordan. It has 10 sided panel cut glass and has sloped facet shoulders. One end of the scent bottle has a hinged lid which when the button is pushed flips up. The other end has a cork lined screw cap. Both are in very good working order. CONDITION: The gilt is in very good condition. The glass is is in ver...y good condition with no chips or nibbles. The hinge works perfectly. The screw top is an excellent fit. The lids are free of any initials. HALLMARKS : The screw lid is marked S. MORDAN &Co MAKERS. The hinged lid is marked inside S. MORDAN & Co LONDON. There are no full sterling hallmarks so I cannot sell this as sterling silver. AGE : The S.MORDAN & Co MAKERS on this piece date it to 1845-1870. I have also listed an identical Sampson Mordan double ended perfume which also has this mark, but has a full set of English sterling hallmarks dating it to London 1866 so this piece dates to about the same period. SIZE : Closed it measures approx. 5.7 inches (14.5 cm) This is a beautiful piece in an unusual and scarce colour. I am also listing other Sampson Mordan silver and gold items.
