This is a great baseball theme issue of Collier's magazine dated Ocgtober 9, 1915. Cover has baseball artwork of a batter, catcher and umpire. There is a 2 page baseball story inside by Frank E. Evans called The Big Fellow. Then there is a 2 page story with pictures of baseball stars in 1915 by famous sports writer Grantland Rice called Another World Series. The players pictured are all stars Grover Alexander of Phillies Ty Cobb of Tigers-Batting Champion, Red Sox Tris Speaker. A...lso pictured are Gabby Cravath of Phillies, Manager Pat Moran of the Phillies, Manager Robinson of Dodgers, Manager Eddie Carrigan of the Red Sox. The story is about the pennant races with Phillies edging out Dodgers and Braves behind Grover Alexander. Boston Red Sox beating out White Sox and Tigers on last series of the season. Babe Ruth is mentioned in article as a star pitcher for Red Sox. Grantland Rice names his all star teams at end of article for the season with Alexander best pitcher and Cobb best position player. The Red Sox defeated the Phillies 4 games to 1 in the World Series in 1915 that would take place after this issue was published. Nice piece of basebal history.
