SUPERB RARE SOLID SILVER ENGINE TURNED HOWITT LIGHTER
Dudley Russell Howitt ....Sheffield 1943
This is a stunning Rare Solid Silver Howitt Lighter crafted by the world renowned silversmith Dudley Russell Howitt this wonderful rare lighter was crafted and Assayed in Sheffield in 1943 making it 76 years old, the design and craftsmanship is of the highest quality as you would expect, the decoration is timelesss with its stunning engine turned engraved design whi...ch contrast beautifully against the smooth finish to the top and bottom of the outer case, the top pulls off to reveal the flint wheel and wick, what makes these lighter rare and highly sought after is not only is the inner case crafted in solid silver but also the silversmith Dudley Russell Howitt only has a mark from 1942-1946 making this lighter extremely rare, its in wonderful condition with its wadding inside ready for the petrol, the wheel turns freely but needs a flint, the inner case shows surface wear as you would expect from pulling the covers on and off for many a year. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this i believe would have once belonged to a wealthy Gentleman and been used daily, if this could talk i bet it would have some fascinating stories to tell, this is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel.  This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice. Please study the photos, this is hallamrk to the top and bottom of the outer case and also to the inner body
