a very fine silver & enamel brooch depicting a exquisitely detailed butterfly with the delicate veining on the wings visible under the vivid translucent pale shaded gold enamel to the wings with the body in black showing the segments, so a truly fabulous example the enamel is in wonderful condition, it is fully signed to the back with the distinctive TLM plus sterling for the silver quality, it is so typical of the arts & crafts art nouveau designs&nb...sp;commissioned by liberty & co from the best of the worlds designers, it is of superb quality and typical of liberty & co pieces of the era, it would possibly have been sold through the liberty & co store in londons regent street as part of the cymric range, or equally through some other high end retail outlet like connels of cheapside, there were several designers using this medium of design and decoration during this era, amongst those the most notable were, meyle und mayer, patriz huber, archibald knox, jessie m king, theodor fahrner, charles horner and james fenton & murrle bennett(liberty pieces were produced by haselers of birmingham, these were the only silversmith making for libertys and produced the cymric silver ware range plus the tudric pewter range also), it measures a tad over 1.75" across the wing tips, so a wonderfully stylish stand out piece of the era that would be a joy to wear. please feel free to ask any questions and i will reply within 24hours, this is a genuine piece and should not be mistaken for the unmarked copies and reproduction items offered on ebay.postage is by special delivery in the u.k and airsure or signed for to international destinations, it will be sent in a velvet lined gift box which is included in the sale, we are happy to accept payment by personal cheque and bank transfer as well as paypal
