Gorgeous vintage R.L. Winston, 9' 3", 10wt. bamboo fly rod. Early 1950s I think. Comes with original labeled tube and cloth sock.. Inked on rod, " R.L. Winston 9' 3"- 6 oz. #7439, Pat No. 2537488". Hollowbuilt butt section. A powerful long casting rod for salmon or steelhead. Varnish, wraps, guides and reel seat are excellent. Slightly soiled cork is very good with sanded out thumb rest. Ferrules are tight. Rod is dead straight which is pretty amazing. Has a hookeeper. Only flaws I am ...seeing are where the owners name(I assume) was removed and re varnished, slightly lighter in color. Also a dented area below the removed name. I tried to show this in my last photo. It is not a spline separation. I asked a well educated friend who collects Winston vintage rods about this rod. Because of the excellent condition he suggested this rod could have been a tournament caster..? I am seeing similar rods on the internet with asking prices up to $1, 200 so here is your chance to own one for a reasonable price.
