For your consideration -- A STAR TREK NEXT GENERATION CHESS SET.
The Star Trek: The Next Generation Commemorative Chess Set is a standard chess game set consisting of a specially-designed game board that doubles as storage for the 32 game pieces - the style of the board emulates the LCARS displays of the USS Enterprise-D.
Produced by THE FRANKLIN MINT in 1993.The pieces for this set are hand-painted pewter, fitted onto gold, or silver, discs, and set on large round crystal bases....The board measures 17 1/2" square and approximately 2 1/2" tall.The pieces measure from 2 1/4" tall (pawns) to 3 1/4" tall (kings).Includes all 33 certificates of authenticity - one for each piece and one for the set itself.
The pieces are as follows:
"Gold" based pieces - King: Captain Jean-Luc Picard Queen: Counselor Deanna Troi Bishops: Commander William T. Riker and Lt. Cmdr. Data Knights: Lt. Cmdr. Geordi La Forge and Lt. Worf Rooks: The USS Enterprise-D Pawns: USS Enterprise-D Security Officers
"Silver" based pieces - King: Q Queen: Romulan Commander Sela Bishops: Romulan Commander Tomalak and Lore Knights: Ferengi DaiMon Goss from "The Price" and Ardra from "Devil's Due" Rooks: Romulan Warbirds Pawns: Borg Drones
In MINT CONDITION. This set was purchased, at the rate of two pieces every other month, and was only displayed under a sealed plexiglass case for a few years in my collectible room. it has been packed away in a box for many years, in a climate-controlled environment. I am the only one who has ever owned it. From a smoke-free and climate-controlled home.
The Q - King piece has a production error - there is a small speck of missing paint on the tip of the nose, (see last picture). It would probably be easy to touch it up. I just never got around to it.
The pictures posted are of the actual items you will receive.
I started collecting over 25 years ago. All of the pieces in my collection were meticulously cared for. Personal reasons make it necessary for me to part with my collection.I only hope that these items end up with a true fan who will love them as much as I have.
Includes FREE UPS GROUND SHIPPING.
I no longer have the original shipping boxes for these items. They will be well-packed; 2 boxes for the game pieces - 16 in each box, fully protected in bubble-wrap. 1 box for the removable top of the chessboard, fully protected in bubble-wrap. The base of the chessboard wrapped and secured with bubble-wrap.Then all four of these components are secured and packed in a large shipping box, to ensure the complete set arrives safely.
