Dating between 1846-1850, this rectangular shaped example is aqua in color and stands 4-1/2" tall by2" wide. It is blown in mold and has a magnificent, perfectly formed wide flared lip, short neck, crude non-symmetrical features with wavy, whittled gl...ass surfaces, beveled corners, smooth panels and a prominent tubular open pontil scar in the center of the base. It is horizontally embossedacross the side panels in large 3/8" block letters and reads as follows:DR. S. S. FITCH // 707 B.WAY, N.Y.Dr. Samuel Sheldon Fitch (1846-1850) 707 Broadway New York, NY. Advertised 1847-1855 as a remedy for consumption and asthma. Fitch bottled a wide variety of medicines including a Cherry Pulmonic Syrup, Pulmonary Liniment, Depurative Syrup, Vermifuge, Hair Tonic, Female Restorative, Pain Killer, Catarrh Snuff, Anti Mucus Mixture and many others. Most all Dr. S. S. Fitch bottles appear with two different addresses (714 Broadway and 707 Broadway). The bottle in this auction is the scarce single 707 Broadway address variant.
