Unique Vintage Model Card
Phil Lambert 4th Outdoor(1-1-43 to 1-1-48)
Phil Lambert was one of the original 12 modelsthat were offered by Western Photography Guild. A studio pose of Phil was used for the studio'sfirst advertisement published in "Strength and Health"magazine in April of 1947.
Auction is for an original vintage Western Photography Guild Model/Pose card from the posing strap era. Original vintage prints by American photographer Don Whitman. (1916-1998)&n...bsp; Set of 4x5 vintage photographs made on luster finish fiber base paper are mounted to an 11x14 piece of heavy card stock. The photo paper is probably Ansco Allura. A beautiful textured bromide portrait paper popular through out the 1950's and 1960's. This one of a kind card was kept on hand in the photographers studio. It identifies which photographs were in this set. It was also used for customers to make selections of prints to buy when they came to the studio. The photographs were originally mounted using rubber cement. The cement had gone dry over time and the prints were loose and starting to fall off the card. I have re-secured the prints as necessary using a high quality photo safe archival adhesive. The prints are now securely mounted, and cannot be removed from the card. A unique piece of physique photography history that will make a welcome addition to any collection.
Overall Condition = Very Good +++
Prints= Really nice prints in Excellent ConditionThe top right print has a small brown spot near theborder in the upper right. I can't see any problems with the others.
Corners and Edges= Very minimal wear to edges and corners. Some fading on the front. More fading on the back and some small stains and specks.
Appearance= Overall a really nice card in fine shape.
