Excellent quality genuine 144 year old sterling silver example, (definitely not a modern re-production), with a hinged lid and is all-over decorated with attractive geometric "Gothic" foliate engraving. It has an attractive fluted border edge and inside it still has its original interior gilding. Nice weight approx 50 grams and as a bonus there are no added engraved monograms or initials, nothing erased.Measurements Measures approx. 3.85 inches (97mm) x 2.65 inches (67mm) and is 0.35 inches (8mm) deep. Date English antique 19th Century Victorian solid sterling silver, with full English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1875, (date letter "a"). Lovely clear matching hallmarks and includes the Queens head duty mark of Queen Victoria.Maker Silversmiths initials "G U", (George Unite - 1832-1926). Condition Excellent condition, with no splits or solder repairs, definitely no wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents, just minor little surface bruises, really nothing much at all and a very nice example. The lid hinge is undamaged and the lid opens and closes tightly and securely and the beautiful geometric Gothic engraving is still has great detail. The original interior gilding is still virtually all intact and there are no added personal engraved inscriptions.
