Vtg 1950s " SHORTY " BLACK LEATHER MOTORCYCLE ENGINEER BOOTS Biker Riding USA RARE
Item History & Price

Returning servicemen coming home from WW2 started the post-war motorcycle culture. They rode easily affordable military surplus Harley-Davidson WLA motorcycles to enjoy the freedom of the open road and regain their individuality after chafing under strict Army regulations for years. Motorcyclists of the 1950s often wore leather jackets, T-shirts, and jeans with cuffs turned up over slick black leather engineer boots. This pair of Vintage 1950s "SHORTY" BLACK LEATHER MOTORCYCLE... ENGINEER BOOTS are in fair condition, with heavy overall drying, stiffening, and wrinkling, making them suitable for a static display only, a deep scratch in the right toe, a few deep scratches and indents at the outer right instep, moderate crazing to the shafts, a tear to the back left top collar, a deep scratch in the right heel, moderate smoothing to the soles, heavy dusting around the insides, and with moderate overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the boots are in fair shape, with no other damage to the thick, tough black leather construction. Most interestingly, they boast the classic "shorty" design, with shafts measuring only 5" tall, sport fully intact, matching black leather ankle cross straps with darkened brass closure buckles, and feature "SEIBERLING / OIL PRUF / MADE IN U.S.A." brown composition soles and heels stitched and riveted onto a leather base. There is no size marked on the boots, but they measure 10 5/8" from heel to toe along the sole, and 4" across the sole at their widest point. An honest example of very rare, original Vintage 1950s "SHORTY" BLACK LEATHER MOTORCYCLE ENGINEER BOOTS. Now celebrating over 15 years on eBay.
