I'm really excited to be able to offer the discerning Hermes scarf collector an extremely rare and authentic Hermes specimen, the sought-after Ville de Paris scarf designed by Hugo Grygkar in 1943. Grygkar never signed his name on any of the Hermes scarves. There were no re-issues of this particular design, made of wool. Wool was used in the 1940s due to the scarcity of silk.
A very hard to find and rare design. Very sought after by Hermès collectors and given an '1A' Very Rare rat...ing, in the Hermes scarf guides, Carrés d’Art III.
A very beautiful design depicting Renaissance Paris. The title literally translates as 'A true portrait of the town, city & university of Paris in 1576'. Blue border, light blue of the river Seine, green for the parks, yellow for the houses, red and purple for the tops of the houses, turquoise for the lawns. Cream ground. Made of sturdy, supple wool.
Hand-rolled hems, a wonderful feature for a scarf from 1943!
It measures 77 x 77 cm (30.5 x 30.5 inches) approximately.
