Treasure craft collectables are very popular these days for their rustic wood grain matt finish combined with the magnificent colorful and fanciful Mid Century Modern glazes. This mesmerizing green soap dish or ashtray is in flawless condition with no cracks, chips, repairs or damage. Ca...n be used as a catch all tray, tiki bar decoration, addition to your Treasure Craft collection or really any Retro, Shabby Chic, Hawaiiana, MCM displays, 1960's decor. Fantastic deep Green glaze is hypnotic and down right psychedelic! Very groovy.....

Treasure Craft, which was at one time California's largest pottery producer, was founded in 1945 by Alfred A. Levin shortly after his discharge from the Navy. He began his business by selling items manufactured by local California potters, setting up shop in Gardena, near Los Angeles.From its start until it closed in 1995, Treasure Craft was a popular maker of stone pottery, which included cookie jars, dinnerware and collectibles by well-known sculptors such as Robert Maxwell and Don Winton.Heyday of Treasure Craft PotteryBy the early 1950s, Treasure Craft was manufacturing its own ceramics and had expanded to several small locations in southern California. In 1956 Treasure Craft consolidated manufacturing and shipping in Compton. The company also opened a second facility in Hawaii, which was responsible for some of Treasure Craft's most popular lines (known as "Hawaiiana").The Hawaiian Lines
As the firm surged, Levin's attentions fixed on Hawaii. The rest of America shared his fascination, particularly California, the route offered to the newest state.Kahului, Maui offered tourism, regular air service, and a desire for business. Levin surprised the industry by opening a satellite plant there. Treasure Craft benefited from location, making a number of 50th State items, then expanding into Hang Ten and Pineapple lines, Tiki gods, Menehunes and Hula Trio figurines. Little has been learned of their designers, but the whimsy of the tourists-in-lei shakers and the sensuousness of the hula dancer showed considerable skill. Many wore paper hang-tag with assorted Hawaiian legends and the palm tree Treasure Craft Hawaii logo.Several pieces were made at both factories, but most Hawaiian designs are impressed with a dated Hawaii mark from the early '60s, sometimes even bearing "C A. Levin". Hawaiian Manufacturer's Association foil labels have been seen on pieces with the "Antique White" finish introduced in the late '70s.Though Hawaiian production was not huge, the impact on the firm clearly was. Treasure Craft sold souvenirs for decades, with labels such as "Disneyworld" or "Seattle" slapped on any giftware the attraction ordered.Over the years, Treasure Craft gained a reputation as a front-runner in the housewares and gift industry, primarily due to its dynamic designs in decorative kitchen pantry ware and tableware. Notable product offerings have included southwest looks such as "Taos" and its collectible cookie jars, many of which were styled as Disney film characters such as Snow White.
