This scale is a charming piece of Americana, owned by a family member living in the Borough of the Bronx in NYC in the early 20th century. The photos really tell the whole story of the item. It seems to be well used and all parts original and working (to the best of my ability to know). The red, gold and black paint is all legible. You need a strong magnifier to read the patent date, but it clearly says August 11, 1914 with Des. Patent No. 46245. I believe... this "Des." would mean design patent. Manufacturer info says; John Chatillon & Sons, NY, NY. Top part of scale with weight indications is 8 inches in diameter. Round metal scale tray is 10-3/4 inches and the 3 hanging chains are 13-14 inches long. Wonderful for home or restaurant decor. Please message me with any questions.
