Vintage Art Deco Carnival Prize Chalkware Blue Standing Pig Statue Figurine

Carnivals of the past; specifically those taking place between 1910 and 1940 offered up other colorful, although sometimes very tacky, awards for winning a midway game. Carnival chalkware is an American term for the figurines made most often out of plaster of Paris (though some were made of gypsum) and painted bright colors using oils or watercolors that were won at carnivals and fairs of this time period.
This pig is about 11.5” high and about 4” wide. He has a slit in his mo...uth but I don’t think he was intended to be a bank since he has no removable bottom and would have to be smashed to release money. He rattles a little like someone had put something in him at one time but I don’t think it’s a coin. Very cute little guy standing on his hind legs.
