1909 T206 Cy Seymour, Black Lenox Back, SGC 10 POOR 1, 6 Total Graded, SMR $750
Item History & Price
Here's a great trivia question for your baseball fan friends: What major league baseball player ranks second all time, behind only Ba...be Ruth, in combined career hits and wins? You can even give them a hint: say his first name was Cy. I'll bet most people will then guess Cy Young. If so, they'll be wrong. When you tell them it's this guy right here, Cy Seymour, most of them will likely say, "Cy who?"
This forgotten turn of the century player was really good. He collected a total of 1, 723 hits, ending his career with a .303 batting average. And he finished with 61 wins and 56 losses, and a 3.76 career E.R.A. 25 of those wins came in just one season, 1898, and his E.R.A. that year was 3.18. Fairly early in his career he stopped pitching due to arm troubles and became a full-time outfielder.
OK, while we're at it, here's just one more trivia question for you: What Cincinnati Reds player holds the record for the highest batting average in a single season? Most people would naturally guess Pete Rose, right? Well, they'd be wrong because, once again, it's this guy right here, Cy Seymour; he hit a whopping .377 in 1905. In fact, he also ranks first all-time in career batting average as a player for the Reds, at .332.
Of the 708 total SGC graded Cy Seymour T206 cards, all versions (portrait, batting, and throwing) combined, all advertising backs combined, only 6 are Black Lenox, including this one.
The SMR for a PSA 1 POOR example of this card is $750.
