This is a truly incredible pair of antique turn of the century era wall sconces, shaped like a pair of extended hands, each holding a long-stemmed torch which have been wired for electric lighting. The sconces are a heavy, sturdy metal, brushed with gold-tone gilt on the hands and ruffle details of the arm's "sleeves." The torch piece is very detailed, with a variety of perforated openwork detailed on the various parts that makeup the bulb socket and its fittings. The hands are gracefu...l in their extension, with spread fingers and a very lithe, realistic energy. These sconces are whimsical and unique, but would also find themselves at home in so many different types of spaces. The sconces are in very good antique condition with minor age-appropriate wear such as scuffing and paint wear consistent with age. They have been rewired and have all their functioning pieces and hardware. Each sconce measures 11 inches deep from the wall, 9 1/2 long (torch and bulb fittings measured lengthwise) and the wall attachment is 6 3/4 wide in diameter. MK
