CONDITION: The pair is in Excellent Estate Condition.There are no nicks, but one piece shows one small speck.DESCRIPTION:Thisantique circa 1835 two pierced oval English Sheffield silver plated servers havinga Greek key design with beaded upper and lower rims, as well as handles. Each of the boats was made with attractive 120perforation cutouts all around with sizes of 1 ¼” wide x 1 5/8” high and arelocated about 1/3 below the top fringe. The body of the pair ...servers is raised on a pedestal oval base alsodecorated with beads. Insideeach of the bases is the manufacturer’s Hallmark depicting a Lion on the left, Horse on the right, and a Royal Crown is centered above the two. Below are engraved names: James Dixon &Sons, Sheffield. Also, there are two other hallmarks; on one piece the number is 1423LH and the otherone is 1423H.NOTE:It is difficult to take pictures of silver. Most of theimages I took show reflection from the surround colors and objects.In 1991, theappraised value was $1, 500 for the two.
