Original Description:
This is a stunning Rogers & Brothers Victorian triple silverplate (silver plate) Butter dish with a sliding cover.  It has beautiful floral and swag decoration and a great finial by which it hangs at the top when slid up to reveal the butter.  It dates to the 1870s-1880s.   The plate is in excellent condition as is the whole piece, and I notice very little wear to the plate; there is a little on the bar that the cover slides on at the top where it is also mostly... carried.

, with the exception of one dent on the cover that is fixable (it just never bothered us); I am sure it would just tap out with a small mallet or hammer, carefully.  One of the arms of the knife rest wiggles a bit but is stable.  We have had it for 30 years just the way it is.  I just mention the small flaws so there are no surprises and I want to fairly represent this fine piece.
