Rare RCA Radiola X tube radio thst is in exceptional condition for its age. The radio features 4 WD-11 type tubes, which are equally hard to come by. Each of the tubes were checked for good filaments and all passed. Tubes have firm bases as well. The radio operated on A, B, & C batteries, but can be hooked up to a battery eliminator to get it functioning. The original C battery is still present, made by Songbird and it is in near mint condition. I am s...ure it does not function, but appearance wise it looks brand new. The finish on the radio is all original and has simply been cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax. There are some minor scratches and one little dent to the top edge of the radio, but overall, the appearance is excellent. The original grill cloth is present and has no rips or tears, but has pulled away from the grill on the right side. With some effort, I believe it can be reattached. All of the dials turn smoothly and properly, with the exception of the dial on the right side of the radio. It appears that the internal gear is not catching the gear for the dial indicator, and as a result does not move. The key to lock the front is not present, but the front panel does open up and can be locked into place with the knob on the left side of the panel. I did find the locking mechanism that would be activated by the key. It was floating around the interior of the radio. The set screw is still present, but the mechanism has apparently snapped off the lock. It is possible that it could be reattached. The interior of the radio is very clean and the original paper diagram of the radio is still affixed to the back panel. This radio is quite substantial in size, measuring 21 3/4" long, 19 1/2" tall and 16" deep and weighs 40 pounds. In order to ensure safe delivery, the radio will be double boxed. Local pick up is also an option and if you wish to see the radio in person, do not hesitate to ask. You will be hard pressed to find another Radiola X in this condition.
