18th Century Carved Walnut Bible Box c.1763

Rare 18th century bible box that originally belonged to "JD".

The top of the box is carved with JD's initials and "His Box" a reference to Jesus.

The date is 1763.

The front of the box has wonderful American folk art carvings with an arrangement of fl...owers.

The box has a lock with no key. The interior hinges have been replaced and the top of the box split sometime during the past 2 centuries, but is still intact.

The box has a fine patina that only comes with age.

Dimensions 24 long x 14" wide x 8.5" high.

Nice antique condition.
