RARE 1990s Audemars Piguet Huitième Chronograph This Audemars Piguet Huitième chronograph showcases the advent of what we now associate with the modern watchmaking era, with a classic dial configuration and a fairly large 40.5mm steel case.THE FULL STORYThroughout its history, Audemars Piguet has shown great restraint in its designs plus high performing movements fitted inside, and this piece is no different. Being on the cusp of the vintage to the modern era, it'...s easy to observe the transitionality of this piece. While this watch is in steel, a limited production, this model was also offered in a full gold version. The movement inside is the self-winding caliber 2126, which derived from the caliber 899/1 by Jaeger-LeCoultre with an additional chronograph module by Dubois Dépraz, keeping the profile sleek in a 40mm case size. Has 12 hour &60 minute recorders. witha 24 kt gold rotor. Can't be seen in our photos is the great SILVER dial of this timepiece. It shows up as white but is a vivid SILVER finish setting this steel watch off from all other Huitieme models. The movement is in great running condition, right on time! with the chronograph function starting, stopping, and resetting correctly at this time. To find one in steel in this condition is rare. Has Original steel Ardemar Piguet deployant buckle with new black leather band. Band only is aftermarket. This AP Huitieme is more of a dressier sport watch, a higher-end watchmaker, 41mm, chronograph and date in a slim 11mm thick package, great AP Cal. 2126/2840 (same as the very first Royal Oak Offshore), retro classic case design and shape.
