ITEM DESCRIPTIONA very rare Doulton Lambeth suffragette inkwell.Dating to 1908.Modelled by Arthur 'Leslie' Harradine.Probably made to coincide with the founding of the Woman's National Anti-Suffrage League in the same year.The body is sterling silver and fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1909, the maker is slightly obscured but its probably Grey & Co of London.Measures 3.5 inches/9cm tall.This piece is in fine condition with no damage or restoration, clean and b...right, very minor signs of age to the silver as you might expect with the passage of time.The Doulton Suffragette inkwells are uncommon but well known, however in 20yrs of handling ceramics professionally this is only the second example I have seen and am aware of with the silver body.Sold to the best offer.International buyers always very welcome!
