Gaunt, London and the number 24417 on rear, in very good condition, no damage to enamel.A Rare WW1 Comrades of The Great War IrishRegiments Numbered Lapel Badge. A scarce brass badge crowned "Maid ofErin" to the center, red enamel circular title, the reverse with maker'sdetails "J.R.Gaunt London" and issue Number 24417. Very Good condition, original buttonhole fitting, no... damage to the enamel.Diameter 24mm. This rarepre-1921 lapel badge was issued by the Irish ‘Comrades of the Great War’association. They looked after the interests of discharged and demobilisedIrish ex-servicemen who fought during the first World War (1914-1918) andremained in existence until 1921 when they amalgamated with other four otherassociations to form The British Legion.These other associations were theComrades of the Great War (British), National Federation of Discharged Sailors& Soldiers, National Federation of Discharged and Demobilized Sailors andSoldiers & The Officers Association. All issued their own member’s badges
