VINTAGE (1972) TRIPLE STRAND CULTURED SEA PEARL NECKLACE WITH 9CT GOLD, OPAL & EMERALD SET CLASP

Vintage (1972) Triple Strand Cultured Sea Pearl Necklace With 9ct Gold, Emerald and Opal Set Clasp This classic and timeless vintage triple string of pearls comprises of genuine, lustrous, cultured sea pearls in slightly graduated sizes. The pearls have been individually hand knotted on white silk. The clasp is m...ade of hallmarked 9ct yellow gold and is set with a cluster of twelve cabochon cut natural opals and seven genuine emeralds. WeightApproximately 39.3 grammes DimensionsThe shortest strand of the necklace measures approximately 21" in length; the longest strand measures approximately 23" in length. The pearls vary in size from 3mm diameter - 7mm diameter. For further size detail please see the photo of the necklace on a cm ruler Gems12 x opals, 7 x emeralds HallmarksThe reverse of the clasp is stamped '9' and '375' for 9ct gold. There are also hallmarks showing that the necklace was made in London in 1972. The hook part of the claps is also stamped '9' and '375'. ConditionThis vintage necklace is 47 years old. The pearls are all in lovely condition: well matched and with a good lustre. The silk stringing is nice and clean. There are no missing opals or emeralds. The opals are all in lovely condition; under magnification it can be seen that there is a scratch / surface reaching inclusion running across the diameter of the central emerald but this is not visible to the naked eye. A couple of the other emeralds have a couple of pit marks (again, not visible to the naked eye). The clasp closes securely and opens easily but sits further out of the clasp that you might expect when the clasp is closed (see photo). Please see all photos for full detail.
