Rare Pentax Prime Lens, Focal Length 35mm F/2. Best Lens For Street Work
Item History & Price
It is compact and very well made, smooth to focus with a large grip. Metal construction, tough and simple. It is just a joy to use.
It is kinda two lenses in one in that wide open it behaves like a vintage lens softening the corners with mild vignetting which tends to emphasize the ...very sharp center of the image. Stop it down one stop and everything in the field of view is uniform and crisp as can be. So it was my go-to for travel. I could street shoot all day, go a bit moody with it wide open indoors or stop it down for excellent scenic work.
The other aspect of this lens and focal length is that is is a normal lens for ASC format. There it is sharp everywhere, all the time/every stop because of the reduced area of the receptor. For my K7 it was also my go-to-normal.
Alas both bodies ( I had an LX too!) are sold and though I though for a time I'd get back into it, I only shoot large format film... or I just grab a record with a cell phone... nothing in between. This lens needs to get up off the shelf and live again. Please do me the favor ;-)
I am known for my excellent packing, no worries there...
