Here's a very nice dug example. I dug it in 1996 at the Union Compress Levee St. town dump. An original example, No chips. No cracks No repairs. Almost no racking. Joseph Biedenharn was the first to bottle the Coca Cola formula for the rural areas of Vicksburg. I've dug a few of these behind old country stores outside of town. This example has the "ROOT 471" on heel and hard to find BLANK bottom. Complete with original stopper.Caution Biedenharn hutch shoppers. In 1890, Joseph Biedenharn and his father, Herman, built a 2 story building at 1107 Washington St. It served as their wholesale candy company on one side, and a shoe store on the other. Today, this building serves as a museum. This was the first place where Coca Cola was bottled in 1894. The business was called the "Biedenharn Candy Co.". This was mainly a water bottling business, bottling flavors, as well as the new Coca Cola drink. Asa Candler really wasn't interested in bottling. He just wanted to improve his growing soda fountain business. Joseph Biedenharn had met Asa Candler earlier, so he sent a case of 24 bottles to him. Mr. Candler simply stated "It's good". Mr. Biedenharn took that as permission to bottle the new drink. Later, in 1899, the first bottling operation was started in Atlanta, with $5, 000. in capital and formal syrup prices, labeling, etc. from Coca Cola.
