Original Description:
Here we offer for your consideration a Rare & Beautiful Wedgwood Biscuit Barrel. This Victorian piece is made of Wedgwood's famous Black Jasperware. It is the Jasper Dip of Victorian times that is only painted on the outside, the White Jasperware Figures laid on & trimmed by hand, and then fired. The top is a triple Silver Plated Bail and handle with Fancy decoration to the handle at the verytop. the lid is hallmarked & has a fancy beaded & turned Fini...al as well. The Biscuit Barrel was used mainly for table decoration at high Tea Time & this one is very fancy.

The Covered Tea Biscuit Barrel is in excellent condition for its age & Antiquity and we can find no damage. There is one extremely tiny flea bit on the bottom edge inside that is only seen by very close examination. The Barrel stands 6 1/2" tall by 6" across at the bulbous widest center point. The figures are high quality & very finely detailed. Marked impressed in the clay with Wedgwood only, no England, and 4 tiny dots impressed as well. We date this piece from the 1870's time period.
