This extremely rare vintage PHIGIED EXTRAchronograph was manufactured by the Angelus watch company in the 1940’s. Angelus manufactured chronograph watches forPHIGIED, an Italian watch company, with PHIGIED signatures on the dial, Angelus215 caliber movement, and on the inside of the snap on back. These watches are 100% Angelus watches sold under the Angelus watch manufacturer’s or distributor’s labels during the 1940’s war era. Angelusalso manufactured this model ch...ronograph for Minerva, Abercrombie & Fitch, Eberhard, Rensie, and several other well-known manufacturers and distributors. This watch is a verycollectable piece of Angelus and horological history.The platedcase is 35mm in diameter without the crown. It is in very good condition with no major dings, dents, scratches orother distractions.The blackdial with gilded numbers and scales is original and in exceptionally goodcondition with no blemishes or signs of fading. Black dials are beautiful and always difficult to photograph without picking up camera glare. I have tried to eliminate the camera reflection and glare in the two photographs in the listing but could not eliminate it completely. The sub-dials have a concentric circlespattern. All5 hands are gold and have aged beautifully with no sign of corrosion.Theacrylic crystal has only minor scratches.TheAngelus 215 caliber movement runs strong, keeps time and the chronographfeature functions correctly. I haveowned this watch for several years but do not have a service record for it. Although it currently runs strong andfunctions correctly, when the movement is running and the chronograph feature is not engaged, the sweeper hand will gradually slip a few seconds, both clockwise or counter clockwise. It is likely loose and may require reseating on its post. Thesnap on back fits tightly and has no case knife marks from removing it.
