This shirt is well worn and at 42 years old it has many good times behind it. All in all it still displays well and is free from stains and tears (except mended). There are a couple very small holes, one on the front and one on the back and at some point in time, the inner arm seams on both sleeves were mended with thread for support (see last two pics). You can still see the gold glitter on the front lettering as well as on some of the graphics but much has now worn off. The shirt is a size Small and measures 19” high (from neckline to hem) and 21” wide (from left to right inner arm seems). The color is a medium gray.
Here’s a few facts about the concert:
The World Series of Rock was a recurring, day-long multi-act summer rock concert held at Cleveland Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio from 1974 through 1980. Belkin Productions staged these events, attracting popular hard rock bands and as many as 88, 000 fans. FM rock radio station WMMS sponsored the concerts. Attendance was by general admission.
The World Series of Rock was known not only for its arena rock spectacle, but was also notorious for the rowdiness, rampant drug use and drunkenness of the crowd. As a result, concertgoers occasionally fell—or jumped—off the steep stadium upper deck onto the concrete seating area far below, causing serious injury.
Violence outside the stadium marred the July 28, 1979 concert. There were five shootings (including one fatality), dozens of robberies and numerous incidents of violence around the stadium in the early morning hours before the concert, where thousands of fans waited overnight.
