This is one of a pair of antique Marionette puppets with a hand carved wood body that will be auctioned separately tonight. They were both found in an old home along with the one that I have up in another sale. This puppet's body measures app. 20 1/2" long. The torso is one piece of carved wood. Each leg is attached to the torso with nails. The lower legs are attached to the upper legs with ...nails. The foot from the ankle down, I believe, is a separate piece of wood. The hands up to the elbow are attached to cloth with nails and that same cloth is attached to the shoulder with nails.You can see a loop on the front of the upper thighs which I assume are meant to be attached to string which can move the puppet. Fantastic antique marionette body. The body has no markings that I can discern so I have no idea if it was a one of a kind or made by a company many years ago.
