Coleman lantern model 242K It's dated 7/35. I cleaned this a few years ago and its been sitting on my shelf since, could use another polish but will leave that decision for the next owner. The nickle is pretty good with the not much brass showing and real freckling, with the exception of around the filler hole and on the base of the burner frame where some brass is showing. There are some scratches but there are no real dings on the tank and it will polish up nice. The vent has some ch...ips but pretty good for a kerosene lantern of this age. The vent stud is worn so the nut doesn’t grab the threads but I’ve added a new old stock stud that’s likely from the 40s but will fit and work with the vent nut. You can either I leave it as is or swap it out, your choice.
Everything turns as it should, the tank holds pressure and the genny passes air so it shouldnt need much to get it running, that said I am selling this as used and with no warranty.
The globe is a faint green sunrise that is chip and burn mark free and has been removed and boxed separately for safe shipping.
This has all the correct features for a 242K which are, wheel for the tip cleaner instead of a bent wire and it hasn’t been replaced or welded back on as this part frequently broke, the lighting door on the frame base plate, double slit collar, hex nut on the fuel cap, pinned pump and the underside of the vent is dark green and the lantern is from 1935. This is an all original 242k with the exception of the pre heat cup which was replaced since it was missing when I bought it, the way you see it is how I found it. After this date you will start to see the bent wire tip cleaner and other parts like the collar and burner frame changing to the 247 model.
This will make a great Fathers Day gift for that collector out there as this is not an easy model to find.
