This antique metal coat of arms is that of The University of Oxford and was purchased many years ago in Memphis Tennessee. It appears to be handmade of a pliable metal such as tin and features a worn depiction of Oxford's insignia which includes 3 gold crowns surrounding an open book. There are obvious issues with the paint as shown in the photos...it has flaked away from years of use and the likelihood that the painted used wasn't intended to be used on metal of this type.... I am guessing it was originally a gift for an Oxford graduate or attendee...possibly even a souvenir piece. The back side includes the handwritten pencil inscription that reads "Var Arms ????
