Gents Omega "56" RAF/Air ministry military wristwatch.The 56 military watches from Omega, Jaeger LeCoultre and Longines are early military watches that were upgraded by the MOD in 1956, these early watches did not have waterproof cases so the MOD fitted the old movements into Dennison waterproof cases. The dials on these Omega watches are usually found with MOD painted black dials and white hands like the example here. These are great issued military watches that have become more desirable as the years have gone by and are a true issued military watch. The case is one of my favorite things about these watches, the size is very wearable at 35mm across not including the crown. This watch is as the MOD made.Overall condition is very nice, this is one of the most attractive 56s I have seen.The extract on one of my photos is from the new “Omega 30mm chronometer” book by Erich Lexer, I recommend this great book for Omega lovers and vintage watch lovers alike, it is a fantastic read with some beautiful watches within too.
