For sale, AN EXTREMELY RARE TO FIND U.S. MILITARY RELATED & OLD (BELIEVE TOKEN COULD HAVE BEEN USED IN 1898 SPANISH AMERICAN WAR ERA) "good for" style trade token which actually is "(GOOD FOR) 5 CENTS (IN TRADE)" at a U.S. military "PRESIDIO OF SAN FRANCISCO EXCHANGE", which was located in the separate locale of THE PRESIDIO OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIAThis is a super rare California location, and listed completely separately from token...s from San Francisco....if you look in the California token book (Kappen) this is the highest price token from this military site as K-9...and a RARE fibre tokenTHIS IS A RARE OLD MILITARY TOKEN. The site of "PRESIDIO OF SAN FRANCISCO EXCHANGE" was supposedly located near present day site of the Golden Gate Bridge...in beautiful San Francisco County. This very early military site goes back to around 1898 Spanish American War eraThis came out of a small collection of Northern California military tokens…..original owner considered "very rare"Old US Military tokens are among the most collectible categories....THIS IS A TOUGH TO FIND US MILITARY SITE.FIRST TIME AS EBAY "BUY IT NOW", ONLY ONE LIKE THIS I HAVE PERSONALLY SEENTrade token is reddish brown fibre, octagonal, about 29mm in size, and it displays very nicely. (please see pictures in gallery) A really nice "problem free" specimen.These antique "fibre" tokens are extremely rare today....they cannot be "metal detected" or "dug up in an old dump".....and they would not survive being discarded in soil...they had to be purposely saved over the years.....very tough to find todayGallery pictures should give you all the information you need.
