Thus, they issuedtheir first medal in 1888. Gradually theHuguenin brothers specialised inthe "Niel" method of decoratingsilver cases in black, which made themfamous in the whole world.1899 saw the transition of crafts to industrywith the construction startof the current plant. The company was thentaken over by the three sonswho developed new products, particularlyshooting awards.World War I and the Crisis of the Thirties, during which silver pocketwatches were replaced by the stainless steelwrist watches, severely affectedthe company, which led to its becoming apublic limited company in 1934:Huguenin Brothers & Co. S. A.The company then went on enjoying significantgrowth in both fields ofwatchcases and medals. The watchcase businesswas sold to a new companyalso in 1955.In 1968, the year of its centenary, thecompany was given a more suitablecorporate name: Huguenin Medailleurs S.A.Directed by a member of thethird generation of the Huguenin family, thethus rejuvenated companyhas been entering into the second century ofits existence with confidenceand dynamism.In 1987 the company changed hands with thethen CEO, Pierre-AndréZanchi buying back the majority of shares (inspite of this, the family, represented by Paul Huguenin, still holds asufficient amount of stakesto ensure a smooth running of businessoperations).In 1992 HUGUENIN made and launched the firstmints with a colourimprint.In 1999 a first merger took place with Kramerheadquartered in Neuchatel.In 2002 Huguenin + Kramer joined with Faude, giving birth to the currentcompany Faude & Huguenin SA.Weight : 21gr.
