Absolutely beautiful antique porcelain plate with oyster shells in pale yellow with brown and white color tones. Known as the "turkey" oyster plate as the five oyster wells are configured in a pattern that resembles a turkey! The brown outline of the turkey are upside-down shells. Very 3 dimensional, soft creamy white with pale yellow deep inside wells. Each shell is trimmed in gold gilt. Gold painted seaweed, scalloped edges also brushed with gold paint. Very natural plate has no other sea crea...tures. Attributed to Haviland & Company (Limoges, France) ~ mark refers to 1876-1889 ~ 8 1/2" diameter ~ excellent antique condition ~ at one edge there is a recessed black dot. On back of plate are two wear spots, size of a quarter. No chips or crazing. I try to describe items accurately and would never intentionally misrepresent anything.
