KLM Royal Dutch Airline Concorde Rare - Possible KLM Or Travel Agents Desk Model
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:598183 | Airline: KLM |
Aircraft Type: Concorde |
This was left to me by grandparents. I can say it is over 38 years old as im 43 and remember it as a young child. I was a bit in ore of it. I know very little about it apart from it was a gift to the family. I have tried researching it online but just cannot find anything regarding it. I suspect this would have been upon a desk or a show piece for a KLM office/ticket office mayb...e? It is not made from a kit. I think it may be die cast. It is certainly one whole item though detaches from the stand by a flat head screw. It has a bit of weight to the actual plane and the stand is quite heavy. If anyone does know anything about this please let me know. it is old though is in good condition. tiny bit of damage to the tail end. At end of the auction for worldwide travel from UK, I will advise the buyer how much Worldwide postage will cost. It may be over the £30 listed. This will be the same for EU countries. UK postage price as listed. On 22-May-19 at 06:30:41 BST, seller added the following information:I have searched and searched online and I cannot find anything like this anywhere. On 22-May-19 at 17:17:44 BST, seller added the following information:Any international buyer is responsible for any additional custom charges that may apply. On 22-May-19 at 20:40:52 BST, seller added the following information:I have recieved the following. Hello Jon. Shoobridge,
This is indeed a nice, rare model. KLM never flew the Concorde, just because at the end it became to expense. At that time (late seventies) KLM already flew with the Boeing 747 and McDonald Douglas DC-10 intercontinental.
During the sixties not only France and Great Britain developed an supersonic plane, also the USA had a project (SST 2707). As KLM was and still is USA minded if it comes to planes. KLM is the only airliner in the world who flew all (McDonald) Douglas aircraft, incl. the DC5 (only 7 produced, 5 for KLM). KLM placed an order for 6 of those American SST 2707 airplanes, back in 1964!!! They never get of the ground only on paper, due to high costs to produce.
I think for your model it could be an agent model or a desk model for KLM self ( as you mention in you auction). Well I never seen this model until now
Hopefully this bit of information helps you further? Please don' t hesitate to contact me if it concerns KLM.
I have been messaging people regarding identifying this.

Also it has been kindly suggested that It is a rare collectors item! and that compaired to the final Concorde which took flight this model may date back to the interest period and was maybe used as part of a sales proposition to KLM possibly never seeing a KLM ticket office. All very interesting developments! .On 23-May-19 at 19:57:49 BST, seller added the following information:Have recieved the following from Westway models.
"I cannot tell you much about the model you have it was a very long time ago when it was made and sorry to say most of the guys that worked on that and other Concorde models are no longer with us.
what i can tell you is yes it is a westway model made in west London, your model would have been made 1964/67, and one of 3 to 5 models, every Airline that was thinking about buying the plane had models of the plane with there Livery on it, TWA, Panam, Qantas, Lufthansa, KLM and so on. a lot of the models were payed for by BAC/ Aerospatiale, there were a lot made but i think there are not meny around now.
i am sorry but that is about all i can tell you, good luck hope your model sell's well.
Doug"

Jon,
The San Diego Air & Space Museum does not disagree with the information you have already received and has nothing more to add.
You have a rare promotional model. Good luck with your sale.
