For sale, a BEAUTIFUL unlisted vintage "WAGON TRAIN PICTORIAL" style good for trade token which was used at business called " STEINFELD'S" (for years a prominent downtown business), which was located in old downtown TUCSON, ARIZONAThis is a very nice large token. The city of Tucson is located in Pima County Arizona.This is a token I know very little about. It came out of a collection of Southern Arizona exonumia.....but the business "STEINFELD'S" was a ve...ry prominent fixture in old Tucson Arizona. Family name goes back to early 1900s and the patriarch of the business was "ALBERT STEINFELD" who established himself in Tucson. This is more like a beautiful "medal"...but does qualify as a "GOOD FOR" token with phrase "REDEEMABLE FOR FIVE DOLLARS IN MERCHANDISE"...so a neat old pc, possibly issued in the 1950s.I was lucky enough to get a couple of these (mint condition) in a token collection, offering these as ebay "buy it now" lots until sold. RECENTLY, I FOUND A SMALL GROUP OF THESE WHICH WERE SUPPOSEDLY RECOVERED IN OLD DOWNTOWN TUCSON, SO WILL OFFER ON EBAY "BUY IT NOW" UNTIL GONE...THE SPECIMEN YOU RECEIVE WILL LOOK LIKE THE ONE IN THE GALLERY...believe this is last one i have to offerAlso note that $5.00 denomination was a lot 60 years ago.....you could buy a nice used car for $100..so this token had real value back in the day.Merchant token is large. I took a picture next to a silver dollar (coin not included in auction) to show size of this pc. Also note the quality of die work...really beautiful medal / token.Trade token appears to be gold wash over brass, round, about 39mm in diameter (slightly larger than silver dollar, and it displays very nicely. (please see pictures in gallery) Token has not been cleaned in any way....would grade this as AU++++++ if it was a coin.Gallery pictures should give you all the information you need.Nice old "good for" token, once worth "$5 in merchandise" at the at the "STEINFELD'S (iconic old school downtown business)" business in old downtown of TUCSON, ARIZONA.Thanks so much for looking....collect and invest in history!!!!!
