This is an antique, Bohemian Art Nouveau Vase that is hand painted and gilded pottery. It is about 7-1/2" high from gilded 3-1/2" round top to gilded circular bottom which measures 5-1/2" across. The vase depicts a young maiden with an Edwardian hairdo adorned with flowers gazing down at a bower of Dogwood blossoms against a backdrop of sky and tall trees. It was made by Riessner, Stellmacher and Kessel and more commonly know as Amphora for short - that was the brand name for their art... pottery. This portrait vase is very much the style of acclaimed ceramic artist Paul Dachsel who worked at Amphora during this time. The red RStK mark with the "Made in Austria" below on the base was one used in circa 1900. Above the RStK are the words also in red, "Turn-Teplitz-Bohemia" forming what looks like a teardrop. The numbers "472" and what looks like "12" are impressed on the bottom also. It has been appraised at $2500 to $3000 if in a retail setting (antique store or gallery). It is in excellent condition except for the small blemish near the maiden's chin (see last photo).
