Redware refers to autilitarian style of earthenware pottery using clay with a high iron content, which turns re...ddish-brown when fired. Though mass-produced redware was also madein Europe, the material became especially popular in the American colonies, asthe clay was abundant and redware products were affordable. The brick-red claythat gave this porous earthenware its name was found in just about every partof the country. Redware was finally supplanted through much of the country bystoneware during the mid-19th century, although production continued in placeslike Pennsylvania and Virginia.Dimensions:  5.5" tall, 5.5" widest diameter
