Vintage Paint By Numbers Hunting Scene w/ Dog and Pheasant Mid Century 16" x 12"
Up for bid and for your consideration is a vintage Paint By Numbers hunting scene with a dog and a pheasant. This is a mid century painting, even the frame is great .
This painting would make an nice addition to a vintage Paint by Number collection or perfect for a cabin or rustic decor!
Here are the details:
The painting is 12 inches tall and 16 inches wide. In the frame 13-3/4 inches tall, 17...-3/4 inches wide and about 1-1/8 inches deep.
This is probably from the 50's or 60's, when these were so popular.
The colors are great, mostly muted with pops of red and blue! It is also nicely done! The edges of each color are smooth and paint coverage is good, the background board does not show through the paint.
The painting is framed, but there is no glass, which would be typical for an oil painting. The frame compliments the painting nicely, with a color border that matches the painting almost perfectly! The frame seems a bit later than the painting, maybe 70's as it has staples instead of nails holding the painting in. It fits a bit loosely in the frame due to not having glass and could use a backing cardboard to make up for that thickness.
Sometime during its life it had an accident, it probably fell off the wall or was dropped. The top right corner is missing a chunk and needs to be stabilized, It can probably be glued on the edges.
There is also two places where the board shows a small bend. One is to the left on the edge in the brown bush, the other is in the sky to the top right edge. There is also a slight line where the board was sent through the printing press. It does show if you catch the light right. None of these detract from the great look of this painting!
