Being offered is a nice old antique Moro or Borneo Kampilan sword with a fine Damascus blade. This sword would date to the early to mid 19th century and measures 37 1/2” in total length. The handle is wood with a lovely patina. It is well carved with what look more like Dayak or Borneo decorations than Moro and there were Moro’s in Borneo so that is a possibility or it is strictly Moro okir work. There is still some Lyme inlay remaining and on the top of the handl...e the tufts of hair have been given a super short haircut at some point in its life. It appears to have had a chain or some type of guard that only the very end piece remains. One chipped off piece on the guard. The blade has a beautiful Damascus pattern. Both sides have long flowing lines like you would see on a Tibetan sword blade. The laminations are very bold and stand out at the upper half of the blade. The blade has some rust patches and overall oxidation. Has long spiked end. A lovely sword and rare to find with such an actively laminated Damascus blade. Please e-mail with any questions.
