VICTORIAN 19th CENTURY HANDMADE 2 - PIECE DAY DRESS - SALMON LINEN AND LACE
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:60589 | Material: 100% Linen |
Color: SALMON |
This piece had been in archival storage at The Lace Museum Detroit and has not been pressed/steamed and, as such, the ensemble photographed as a "wrinkled" version. There are a few issues in regards to the linen structure; a few slight areas of discoloration on the linen, a few sections along the top of the bodice neckline where the linen has separated (please see the last few photographs), the small train on the back lower area of the skirt has a few areas of discoloration, and there is feint underarm staining (please see the last photos). Due to the stated issues, this ensemble is priced as such.
In spite of the issues, this ensemble is just beautiful - an excellent example of Victorian fashion, and with the proper rinse/soak, appropriate pressing, and repair on the separated seams on the bodice, this would be an wonderful study or exhibit piece, or a nice acquisition for a collector. We believe the lace is in very, very good/strong condition.
CHEST 35" WAIST 26" SLEEVE LENGTH 25" SKIRT LENGTH 40" (the back of the skirt is approximately 2 to 3" longer for perhaps a small bustle) HIGH COLLAR 12"
Please email with any concerns about this lovely piece, as we want it to go to a good home where it will be given a good life, with perhaps the appropriate repair and cleaning. The Museum does not charge for shipping, handling, or tracking within the United States. Thank you for looking!
