Drop Dead Gorgeous 38.5mm Bucherer Day Date For Sale in Incredible Condition - Don't Miss this Chance!Watch:It really pains me to list this near-perfect 1970s Bucherer "Weekday Automatic". I fell in love with it years ago when I purchased it from its original owner and have cherished it since, but my lifestyle doesn't allow this to get enough wrist time so I've decided it's better off in someone else's collection. The 18K gold-plated watch has an incredible fluted bezel ...a la the Rolex President Day Date, but trust me, this will get just as many looks as that watch for a fraction of the price. Just watch as the sunlight hits that bezel! The dial is a stunning champagne color with a sunburst pattern that is just as mesmerizing in daylight. Printing is crisp and the 3D Bucherer insignia has fantastic detail for such a small appliques - one of my favorite details of the watch for sure. This same goose icon is repeated on the screw-down caseback and bracelet clasp. The watch will come with the beautifully-matched Italian crocodile strap shown in the photos, as well as the original gold-plated oyster style bracelet that is also in superb condition for being ~50 years old. The bracelet has a branded clasp and definitely changes the character of the watch on the wrist. Really rare to have this original pairing, but for me the croc strap really makes this watch sing. The watch crystal is acrylic with a small cyclops eye over the date. The watch case measures an infinitely-wearable 38.5mm not including the crown.
Condition:The photos should give you a great sense of the excellent condition of this watch for being 5 decades old. There are light scuffs and dings on the case sides typical of a 5-10 year old watch, but no major gouges or damage that you may expect for a watch this age. The fluted bezel is almost perfect, I could not find a flaw worth mentioning. The crystal has a few marks in it, but they're hard to photograph and you can't see them unless the light hits them just right. The dial is perfect. The strap has a lifetime of wear left, and the gold-plated bracelet has only minor wear, almost all plating is in tact. The movement was recently checked out by a local watchmaker and he reported that it had been recently serviced and didn't need tweaking aside from a tightening of the rotor (which he took care of). I've timed the watch and it runs about -10 sec/day, which is pretty impressive for a watch this old. I've got new ETAs that keep the same time. The more I write the less I want to sell this watch...
