Highly IlluminatedArabic Manuscript. A Large Complete Koran. 255 leaves (510 pages); size: 16.5 x 22.8 cm;written surface: 10.7 x 16.8 cm; 15 lines to a page, in large, clear, elegantand uniform naskhīscript, in black ink, on beige paper. There are 2 highly illuminated pages at the beginning. The text is vocalized throughout. Theborders of all pages are ruled in several lines of gold, red, and blue. All headings of chapter are indicated by goldstrips. ...; All verses are separated by golddiscs. The divisions of the Koran are indicated bycolorful medallions on the margin. Thereare tens of such medallion. Recent limp morocco, embossed in an arabesque floral design, with the spinebeing rebacked. The lower margins of afew leaves are affected by dampness, but all texts are intact. One leaf (leaf number 255) with a tear butprofessionally repaired and no loss of text. Some minor marginal smudges, but generally a very clean Koran. The Koran is undated, but, most likely, itdone in the late eighteenth century. Inexcellent condition.
